The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades report published Wednesday said the
88-bed health center in Lehigh Acres earned a B for overall safety.
Publicly available Leapfrog reports don't provide detailed explanations
on grade changes, but the
breakdown in scores shows the hospital meeting or beating national averages in most safety measures.
Leapfrog assigns grades after reviewing data on safety events, such as
the rates of patient infections and surgical complications, and surveying
hospitals on safety practices, staffing, and record-keeping practices.
This year, 823 of the 2,639 hospitals graded earned an A for safety, including
39 in Florida. Ten had failing grades. None were in Florida.
Leapfrog began grading hospitals in 2012.
