Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Lehigh Regional Medical Center is a 12 week course with two or three sessions per week. Once enrolled, you will work one-on-one with a caring and knowledgeable healthcare specialist, either a Registered Nurse or a Respiratory Therapist, who will oversee, monitor, and evaluate your progression throughout the entire course of the program. The main areas targeted throughout each session are exercise and education.  One of the greatest benefits of Pulmonary Rehabilitation is feeling better about yourself and more confident controlling your lung disease. It is very important that Pulmonary Rehabilitation is attended on a regular basis and that an exercise regimen is maintained afterwards to maximize the benefits it has to offer.

Along with feeling better, some of the other important benefits many graduates have experienced include:
• Increased exercise tolerance
• Decreased shortness of breath
• Education and knowledge about their lung disease
• Leading a more active and enjoyable lifestyle
• Meeting other highly motivated people with lung disease  and allowing discussion of management and coping  mechanism
