Dr. Lemmons/Lehigh Reginal Medical Center

Dr. Lemmons,
Just a quick note about an incident I experienced on April 1, 2009 at Lehigh Regional Hospital:   On April 1, 2009 my seven year old son, Grant, broke his collar bone at the Alva little league field.  I transported him to Lehigh Regional to confirm my suspicion and get definitive care, x-rays, and all of that good stuff.   I have lived in Lee County my entire life and have worked, full-time, as a first responder,FF/EMT,and now Lt./Paramedic for over 17 years.  We have all heard not-so-great things about "Eastpoint" over the years and I do not have to tell you that bad news travels fast, which brings me to my point......   Upon my arrival at your ER I received nothing but professional, expedient, service.  In fact, the fire alarm activated while I was in the waiting area, a gentlemen appeared and announced that this was not a false alarm and that there was an actual smoke condition in the ER!    I was in uniform and did have a portable 800 radio with me, so needless to say we all shifted gears and sprang into action and investigated the problem.  All of the staff within the ER reacted as though they had regularly trained for this type of event.  One lady specifically stands out in my mind.....as we were searching for the root cause of the activation, she accompanied me and carried a portable fire extinguisher from room-to-room, clearing each one as we searched through the department.  She even seemed a little disappointed that she did not get to squirt any fire with it.   Please pass along to all of your staff at Lehigh Regional that I am extremely pleased with the service my family received at this facility and even with an evacuation of the ER, we were still headed home within 2-2.5 hrs.   As far as a disposition for Grant.....he did break his collar bone and has already run several 5k races since then.  I guess he has decided its not going to bother him?   Again, please forward my thanks to all of your staff there at Lehigh Regional.

Sincerely,
Lieutenant Gene Rogers
