Lehigh Regional Medical Center now hosts Parkinson’s support programs

Beginning June first, Lehigh Acres Sports And Rehab (LASAR) at Lehigh Regional Medical Center and Hope Healthcare will host two programs specially organized for individuals suffering from Parkinson’s disease and their loved ones.

Educational support groups will be held the first Tuesday of each month, from 2:30 to 3:30 pm.  These are designed to help patients and their families cope with this chronic disease.  The information, support and counseling that participants receive at these group meetings can help to reduce stress and improve quality of life.

A weekly exercise group has also been planned and will take place every Tuesday, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm.  These exercise groups are designed to keep the people with Parkinson’s disease moving so they can maintain their current abilities.

Both the educational support group and the weekly exercise classes will be free of charge and they will meet at Lehigh Regional Medical Center, main floor, at 1500 Lee Boulevard, in Lehigh Acres.  For more information please contact the Hope Parkinson program office at 322-5327 or LASAR therapist Kris Repnyek at 303-0495.
